Using cannabis for medical purposes became legal in Switzerland in 2011 and a great deal of other nations have joined the bandwagon since then, including Germany this past year.
Legal cannabis manufacturer KannaSwiss has seen strong sales of a product low in THC but high in CBD -- anti-inflammatory and considered which has numerous potential therapeutic benefits, like for panic attacks or as pain relief.
However, the politician from Bern also said time was running short if Switzerland did not"want to miss out".
Now politicians across the political split are ganging together to have the Swiss government to approve this kind of production, Swiss site Nau reports.

Could cannabis be the cash cow for farmers?

But creation of this medication remains a thorny problem in Switzerland following the health department recently refused to green-light growth of medical cannabis for export.

Buchwalter says the market of medical cannabis is flourishing and worth around $90 billion annually.  Swiss farmers should be permitted to acquire a piece of this pie, she asserts.

She said farmers could realistically expect to make 8,000 to 10'000 francs per are (one percent of hectare) with the harvest, adding that the essential know-how was already set up.
Though its use is illegal, fines differ from canton to canton and a few places are more inclined to turn a blind eye than others.
